July 2012

Challenge Your World, an international organization that has created a platform for real-world human sustainability initiatives for university students around the world, has partner with One Million Lights Global Ambassador Program to put together an international team of volunteers dedicated to lighting up households in need in Cambodia and Ghana this summer.

The team has held fundraisers around the world with a bake sale in Canada and France, a charity dance in the Czech Republic, and the sale of recycled plastics crafts and friendship bracelets in Malaysia.

The first distribution is lead by Light Ambassadors Fatin and Khairunnisa who will travel from Brunei to Cambodia to distribute 140 Nokero N200 lights in July. In partnership with the Organization for Building Community Resources, a non-profit organization in Phenom Phen, the team will distribute lights to a village in the Sam Rong Tong District of Kampong Speu and the village of Lvea Aem in Kandal Province. Both communities were identified with the help of the grassroots level NGO and were selected because they have un-reliable access to energy and will benefit from the additional productive hours in the evening that cleaning lighting would provide.

Ambassador Patricia will complete the distribution of solar lights in Ghana in the coming weeks.

The team has been working hard to reach its goal. Support the team’s project of lighting up Cambodia and Ghana today!
