Anna Sidana receives the award for One Million Lights -- June 27, 2011

The Human Values Award is given to extraordinary individuals and organizations that uplift human values through their selfless service to society. Anna Sidana, founder of One Million Lights,  received the award based on her achievements in the areas of disaster and trauma relief, environmental stewardship, ethics in business, non-profit governance, conflict resolution and peace building, unsung heroes, and youth leaders.

“The Greater Bay Area has some outstanding individuals and organizations that rarely get recognized for their commitment to helping others,” said Bonnie Rosen, the event chair.

Anna was recognized for her commitment to provide clean, safe, affordable solar lighting to rural communities around the world, and for enabling a better education for children and cleaner work environment for adults, all while eliminating carbon emissions, improving household health, and greatly increasing income savings.

“This award is for all the dedicated volunteers who have spent numerous hours working on One Million Lights projects around the world.”  — Anna Sidana
