Intuit Diwali Celebration – Wed, Nov 3, 2010

One Million Lights joining Intuit Employees in Celebrating Diwali — Wednesday, November 3 from 2:30-5pm at the Mountain View, CA campus.
Diwali is known as the Festival of Lights and is celebrated in India by families placing lights and candles all over their homes. The event will open to all Intuit employees. The café will be decorated with lights and a beautiful design made of colored rice. Music, dancing, food, drinks and sweets for the employees to come and enjoy.

Solar Lights a Big Hit at SPIE Optics + Photonics 2010 — One Million Lights leverages SPIE conference to illuminate the developing world.
Sponsored by SPIE in the “Photonics for a Better World” pavilion at SPIE Optics + Photonics 2010, the One Million Lights exhibitor booth intrigued attendees and spurred donations. One Million Lights is a Palo Alto, CA based nonprofit with a goal to distribute 1,000,000 environmentally friendly, re-chargeable solar lights to adults and children in off-the-grid, developing regions around the world to replace toxic and expensive kerosene lanterns.

The event was a mixture of community businesses and organizations along with employee booths – there were 20-25 booths this year. The event highlighted social responsibility along with Intuit’s sustainability initiatives.

Happy Earth Day! — One Million Lights joined Nvidia for an Environmental Awareness Event on Earth Day 2010.
We were thrilled to join a number of local green initiatives and nonprofits at the Nvidia Earth Day Fair in Santa Clara, CA. Many employees purchased solar lights, made donations, and pledged to volunteer, including Jen-Hsun Huang, Co-Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer who purchased 14 solar lights. PALO ALTO, CA – One Million Lights has been selected as one of 25 South Bay organizations to participate in Whole Foods Market’s Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 25th, at Whole Foods Market in Palo Alto, California. The downtown Palo Alto store is partnering with socially conscious organizations to celebrate Earth Day and raise awareness of social and environmental issues in the local community.
